Joss Whedon will return to write and direct THE AVENGERS sequel as well as a brand new series for ABC’s Marvel Television.
Earlier this week, Disney chairman Bob Iger made the news public and more recently, a statement was released by Marvel Studios: “Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and directMarvel’s The Avengers 2as well ashelp develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.”
With THE AVENGERS earning about $1.5 billion worldwide,Whedon’s skills and efforts were clearly showcased. However, fans will have to wait patiently to see how the sequel will develop as Marvel Studios is busily promoting upcoming movies such as IRON MAN 3, THOR: THE DARK WORLD, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
