The fun continues on a brand new episode of THE NEXT STEP! In episode 5, called “Steal My Sunshine,” A Troupe finds out that they will get a break from rehearsing for regionals because Dance Camp will be happening at the studio. Dance Camp is a fun one day event for young dancers to come into the Next Step Dance Studio and learn about dance.
Michelle suggests that they go to the beach together. Everyone likes the idea, except for the E Girls. The E Girls volunteer every year to run Dance Camp. They will stay at the studio. Riley asks Emily what she wants her to do, and Emily coldly tells her to go to the beach. Since she is no longer an E Girl, she doesn’t have to follow what Emily and the other girls are doing.
While at the beach, Michelle compliments Riley’s necklace. The necklace is Emily’s but Riley borrows it sometimes. It belonged to their grandmother who passed away. James asks Riley about the drama with the E Girls, and she says “They’re not so bad.” This makes everyone laugh because they all know that is not true.
In Dance Camp, Emily shows that she loves being around kids. She even picks one of them, Margie, as her favourite. Chloe, on the other hand, doesn’t enjoy being around children. She finds it scary. Emily asks her to bring one of the girls to the bathroom and Chloe asks if Stephanie can do it.
At the beach, they start playing ‘dance Frisbee,’ where you dance while throwing or catching it. While jumping to catch the Frisbee, Riley realizes her necklace is gone. She starts to panic because that necklace is “the only thing we have to remember our grandmother by.” After splitting up, they can’t find it anywhere. James spots a man on the beach with a metal detector and they ask him if they can borrow it. The man shows them that he found gold. He wants $100 if they want to borrow it.
Meanwhile at Dance Camp, Emily realizes that Margie is missing. Emily, Stephanie and Tiffany leave to look in other rooms, leaving Chloe alone with the rest of the girls. Margie pops up from behind the clothes racks, saying she was hiding for fun. When the other girls come back, Chloe is dancing with the little girls. Emily is relieved to see her favourite little dancer again. She compliments Chloe telling her she did a good job. Chloe tells Emily that being with the girls alone was the “most terrifying thing in my life.”
Michelle suggests to the beach group that they should “do what they do best.” They quickly make with a routine and dance in the sand to raise money to give the man with the metal detector. Everyone on the beach notices and donates money. Eldon says “I even saw the metal detector guy throw in a quarter.” Riley says seeing people giving them money gave her relief that they could find the necklace.
They raised enough money and traded it in for the metal detector. James takes hold of it and they begin searching. After finding things like bottle caps and nickels, they find the necklace!
At the end of the day, everyone goes back to the studio. The beach group is now better friends with Michelle. She says that she feels more welcome now. However, Emily is still wary of Michelle, thinking that she has an agenda and wants to uncover it.
