Last night, Family Channel’s THE NEXT STEP returned with even more drama, tension and, of course, dance. In the previous episode, we saw Emily’s plan to sneak into an Elite rehearsal go horribly wrong when Michelle got caught for video taping the practice.
In episode seven, we see Emily and the others return to the studio— without Michelle. Riley is angry and confronts Emily about leaving Michelle behind.
At the scene of the crime, Michelle is caught in a tight spot as the Elite dancers question her. When asked what she’s doing there, she lies and says that she is there to audition for Elite. The dancers challenge her to show them what she’s got. Michelle pulls out her best tricks. Elite is clearly impressed and is asked to join the troupe.
Back at The Next Step studio, the dancers start working on duets. Eldon asks Emily if she wants to be his duet partner and Emily turns him down for the “1031st time.” Then, he asks her out! Emily loses it and turns him down, yet again.
Michelle finally returns to the studio and tells them what happened. The dancers have mixed feelings about her lying. Emily hopes Michelle is kicked out of the studio.
Michelle gets called into Kate’s office and is asked about whether she is planning on transferring to Elite. Michelle confesses that she was spying and is relieved that she isn’t in trouble.
Meanwhile, Emily talks to the other girls about trying to push Michelle out of the group once and for all. Riley overhears the conversation and is infuriated. She goes to James and the two make a plan to dethrone Emily as dance captain and replace her with Michelle.
Eldon decides that he needs to work on his pick up tactics. In order to get Emily’s attention, he acts depressed and starts dancing badly. In an attempt to cheer him up and get him to dance better, Emily finally agrees to go out with Eldon after rehearsal.
Outside of the dance studio, we see Emily and Eldon on their first date and it’s so awkward! Eldon is so nervous that he hands Emily a pillow for no reason. Eldon tries to be funny and fails miserably. Emily tells him that he tries too hard. Suddenly, Eldon breaks out into a dance and finally seems to impress Emily. She agrees to be his duet partner, but says she won’t go out with him again.
Riley and James meet with Michelle to tell her that they are going to replace Emily and want her to consider being the new captain. Michelle freaks out and says she’s not ready.
Will Riley and James be able to dethrone Emily as the captain? And more importantly, who will step up to the plate if Michelle can’t take the lead?
