Hopefully you’ve saved up your quarters and arcade appetite! Today, WRECK-IT RALPH hits the big screen and brings back some classic video game characters with it. The Disney animated film has a bit of a twist. Instead of being all about the good guy, WRECK-IT RALPH is all about the bad guy (or at least a bad guy who wants to be good!)

The film feels a bit like TOY STORY, in the sense that it takes place in a fantasy world with game characters who come to life after hours in the arcade. The cool thing is, many of these characters are ones that we’re already familiar with, like Pac-Man, Bowser and Sonic the Hedgehog.Have you ever wondered what would happen if all of these beloved video game characters had lives outside of their games and interacted with each other? Neither have we… which is exactly why WRECK-IT RALPH is an interesting film. It’s full of surprises and has a really unique story that’s different from the typical good guy vs. bad guy plot.

Determined to shake his bad guy image, Ralph decides to switch games and earn a medal for being a hero. He wants to be known as more than a building smasher and finally be accepted by the rest of the FIX-IT FELIX crew.

Ralph decides to enter the futuristic first-person shooter HERO’S DUTY. With crystal clear CGI graphics and evil Cy-bugs, this game looks and feels completely different than the simple arcade game Ralph is used to.

Of course, getting a medal and returning to fanfare is never easy. Along the way, Ralph finds himself in SUGAR RUSH, a Mario Kart like racing game, and must take on a whole slew of other challenges. With each game looking and feeling completely different, you truly feel like you are travelling through the Game Central Station with the characters and getting a peek inside many secret worlds.

With a great voice cast, there are plenty of hilarious moments. John C. Reilly voices the lovable Ralph, Jane Lynch (GLEE) is as tough as ever as Calhoun, Sarah Silverman is great as the sickeningly sweet Vanellope and Jack McBrayer voices Fix-It Felix Jr.

Hardcore video game fans will love spotting the hundreds of game references, like hidden Mickeys, Pac-Man fruit and less obvious ones that only true gamers would ever notice. But trust us, it will definitely take a few viewings to be able to catch them all. Luckily, the Blu-ray and DVD will have a special featurette to point them all out. Get your first shot by watching WRECK-IT RALPH in theatres now!
