Since no one’s ever become famous from YouTube before, the video site has just announced that it will be launching its very own film festival, bringing its 10 finalists to the Venice Film Festival!
Calling it the ‘Your Film Festival’, the Google-owned site will be accepting submissions between Feb. 2 and March 31. All film submissions must be under 15 minutes in length. Fifty semi-finalists will be selected, and YouTube users will vote for their top ten amongst the bunch.
Ridley Scott’s production company, Scott Free Productions, will also be sitting in on judging the submissions. Out of the ten finalists in Venice, one grand prize winner will be selected from a jury, also overseen by Ridley’s company. The grand prize winner will also receive a $500,000 grant from YouTube to produce a film with Scott Free.
