Wii has recently previewed some new games and consoles that are being released from September through December.
The most exciting new concept is the Wii U, a controller that will revolutionize video games. The Wii U is sort of like a tablet in the sense that part of it consists of a touchscreen. Surrounding it are the buttons and controls you’d normally find on a Nintendo DS. The Wii U can be used on its own when connected to a Wii U console and a television screen. It can also be used in conjunction with the regular Wii controllers in certain games, like the new Super Mario Bros.
In this multiplayer platform game, two people control Mario and Luigi while a third person uses the Wii U gamepad. They can get rid of characters that try to hurt the other players and place boxes that the brothers can step on which will either block them from moving or help them get to the next level.
Other new games include Legend of Zelda for Wii and a new version of Wii Fit that has players actually sit on the Wii Fit board to make things like sledges move. Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition (played with the Wii U) is a new, shooter type game that features Batman fighting opponents in a prison-like warehouse. Rayman Legends is another new Wii game that’s similar to the Mario Bros. games in the sense that it’s also a platform game in which players must dodge opponents and collect points to move on to the next level. The bright, crisp graphics for this game are simply amazing. It looks like it’s 3D with no need for special glasses, and everything on the screen, even the background, is always moving and interacting with the player.
All of Wii’s new games are challenging, but not to the point where players won’t be able to get the hang of them. They promise hours of entertainment for all who try them. Keep an eye out for the releases of Wii’s new games and the Wii U!
