That feeling of renewal with the coming of New Year only seems to last as long as our feeble resolutions. Keeping them soon proves to be not even half as fun as making them. However, thankfully several innovative people out there were thinking along the same lines, because there is now an arsenal of websites developed to suit your New Year’s needs. There’s something for everyone, so don’t be alarmed as you’re sifting through the slew, and select a site tailored to your specific needs. Chances are, you won’t be disappointed—as long as you pull your end of the rope. As helpful as these websites can be, they can assist you short of actually completing the work for you…that feature’s still being developed.
1. 43 Things
The original goal-tracking website, 43 Things boasts the feature of having a built-in support group for your resolutions of choice, and they’ve even added a new section specifically for 2012. You can compare your progress with others, post entries on how things are going with you, and read tips from those who have completed the same or a similar task.
2. Habitforge
This particular website happens to be one of our favourites, and definitely a “must-use”. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, so this website allows you to follow this pattern by providing with handy features, including daily reminders to help you stay on track. There are various categories for organizing your good habits and the whole look of the website is quite streamlined—it’s safe to say that “we like”.
3. Rescuetime
Glancing at the digital clock in the corner of your computer’s glaring screen, are you appalled to find that the past few hours have trickled away into nothingness and you have no idea what you spent them doing? Rescuetime is here to rectify the problem. It helps you out by tracking how much time you waste on the less important stuff and letting you manage your time for the things that are a little more crucial. Simply install the lightweight program, follow the setup instructions, and you should be good to go!
4. Daytum
For the design lovers who can’t stop making lists, this site is a little gem. Whether you need to log your 10 glasses of water a day or the hours you spend exercising, Daytum is the one for you. We’re such suckers for the aesthetically pleasing design of Daytum that we couldn’t tear ourselves away—just make sure not to go too nuts making displays, or it’ll turn into more of a time-waster than a time-saver.
5. Listography
If you think you can easily fall into Daytum’s design trap, don’t even go for Listography. There are so many things you can customize, including picking a background from the internet, that you can go crazy just making your lists look nice before you realize there isn’t really any content going on there. So beware! However, this website is a useful tool to keep all the lists you need together—as long as you really do need them.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a productive, organized 2012! (Notice how Facebook isn’t on this list? Try your best to keep it off yours, too—it’s a time-sucker like no other.) Now what are you doing now that you’re done reading this? Get out and get something done!
