Tokyo, Japan has been chosen as the location for the 2020 Summer Olympics!
Japan’s capital won out against Istanbul in the final round of balloting to much glee from Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe.
The International Olympic Comittee picked Tokyo as the location at a conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This will be Tokyo’s second time hosting the event. They first hosted the Summer Olympics 56 years ago.
There had been concerns that Tokyo wasn’t the best place to host the popular games due to environmental problems caused by the Fukushima Nuclear Plant. However, the Prime Minister claims that there have not and will not be any problems caused by the plant in Tokyo which is 238 kilometres away.
