Bubble Wrap turned fifty this year. And what better way to celebrate than to wrap an entire street in it? The 1,500 square meter spectacle was actually a way to raise awareness about the number of accidents that take place on a Somerville Road in Worcester. So many accident claims are registered here that the street is also known as “Accident Avenue.” So a website decided to wrap everything from the cars on the street to the trees and garden gnomes on residents’ front yards in bubble wrap. It took about twelve hours. A Worcester man who saw the result said, “I think it is a really amusing idea, although I don’t know how long it will be until someone starts popping the bubbles.”
