Things are getting spooky this Halloween!! R.L. Stine, author our favourite creepy ’90s series, Goosebumps, took over Scholastic’s social media on Wednesday – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google+ – to answer fans’ questions and get everyone in the spirit of the holiday.

Stine first began the tradition in 2011, but had to cancel last year due to Hurricane Sandy. This year, he opened up about his books and his family – and even a fuzzy duck costume from his childhood!

He also had time to answer a bunch of questions about the writing process and what it takes to come up with scary stories:

When asked by a fan via Twitter why he writes scary books for kids, Stein simply responded, “I just enjoy scaring kids.” Yep, he certainly loves what he does!

Get out those old Goosebumpscopies, and have a spooky, candy-filled Halloween, Mag fans!
