Brampton native and all around awesome person,Ebony Oshunrinde A.K.A. WondaGurl, is a 16-year-old aspiring producer who has already made a name for herself by appearing on Jay-Z’s brand new album!
Ebony’s interest in creating beats began when she was only 9 and saw a video ofJay-Z and Timbaland working together in the studio. She then downloaded music software and taught herself how to use it by watching YouTube videos.
Like any other normal teen, Ebony has to finish her homework and chores before she heads to the computer to make beats, but she’s already managed to win Toronto’s Battle Of The Beat Makers contest at just 15 years old! The win led to her sign on with Black Boxwhere she started working in a studio.
Her contribution to Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ began as a reggae song which she spiced up with her unique creativity. She then sent the beat to her friend, rapper and producerTravis Scott, who happened to be working with Jay-Z in the studio when he received the beat.
Well, the rest as they say is history!
