We’ve all heard time and again how important it is to stay active in order to have a healthy lifestyle, but how many of you actually do the suggested amount of exercise? It is necessary to do at least one hour of physical activity every day. Ninety-three percent of Canadadian kids and teens don’t fulfill this requirement. GoodLife Fitness, the Canadian gym company, is trying to change this by offering a free summer membership to anyone ages 12-17!
The program will include a free membership to their gyms, classes, pools and anything else covered by a basic membership. It also includes group workout classes for teens as well as info sessions about safety, exercise guidelines and club rules.
An hour of activity may seem like a lot, but you’d be surprised to hear how fun and easy it actually is. It’s recommended that youth ages 12-17 workout at a gym only 3 times a week. For the other 4 days, you can do things like ride your bike, walk to school, jog around the neighbourhood, do some sit-ups at home or even play outside with your dog if you have one!
