Michael Gougeon is no stranger to flying. He has been flying alongside his father ever since he was seven years old. Now, nine years later, this 16-year-old teenager from Ontario will be attempting to fly solo across Canada. If successful, he will officially be the youngest person ever to complete this astonishing feat.

On Friday, July 13th, 2012, Gougeon will start his journey from Tofino, British Columbia. He will fly though the Rocky Mountains and across the vast lands of the Prairies. Then he will cross over the lakes in Northern Ontario and end his trip in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Gougeon plans to finish his trip in one week. He predicts that he will be in the air for a total of 25 hours. However, Gougeon also toldCanada.comthat”weather could potentially be a big problem and that is really a challenge because that makes it really hard to estimate how many days it will take.”
