Meet Harbor, the eight-year-old coonhound from Boulder, Colorado who’s just been crowned “The dog with the longest ears”! With the left ear coming in at 13.75 inches, and the right ear at 12.25 inches, he’s officially part-dog-part-elephant (not actually).
His owner, Jennifer Wert, says his ears have been long since birth. According to Wert, when he was a puppy, he would trip over his own ears. Also weird about the coonhound’s ears, they help him with scent. So not only can he probably hear everything, but smell everything, too!
The previous Guinness World Record title holder was Tigger, a bloodhound from Illinois. His ears were technically larger than Harbours – with a 13.5-inch left ear and a 13.75-inch right ear – but poor Tigger passed on in 2009.
Congrats, Harbor! If you have any unique looking pets, send in a picture of them and get them published in The Magazine and on themagazine.ca!
