Family Channel brought the summer to a close with a bang by hosting the Big Ticket Summer Concert. The event gave singers with Disney roots a chance to perform for their devoted fans. This year’s lineup was truly spectacular, and the performances even more so.
The concert kicked off at 4:30 p.m. at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto. R5 opened the show. The five young singers, four of them siblings, had amazing, infectious energy on stage. They took the time to joke around with their fans and seemed really laid back.
Next up was emerging artist Veronica, performing some of her songs and doing a cover of “Kiss Me”. Her act started off with her background dancers, who blew us away. We loved her hot pink dress and confidence!
Tyler Medeiros certainly got the crowd cheering (ahem, screaming) for him. What really impressed us about his performance was that he was dancing alongside his backup dancers, proving that he’s truly a multi-talented performer. He even did some flips and invited a fan onstage to sing with him.
The second last performance of the night was Allstar Weekend. The screams were deafening and we could see why! The band is fun, talented and was clearly having a great time. They even did their cat and orangutan raps!
The audience got a sneak preview of a new show coming to Family in March when the cast of THE NEXT STEP took to the stage to perform a dance. The group is brimming with talent. Jordan Clark, winner of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA is part of the cast and was amazing on stage!
Bridgit Mendler was the grand finale and we must say, she stole the show! Her voice is unique and unexpected. It’s powerful, sweet and clear, all at the same time. Her interactions with the audience and her band members were priceless. Her act was a great conclusion to an amazing show!
