Canada knows how to rock, eh? Three of the hippest Canadian acts on the scene right now – Hilary Weaver, Eleven Past One and Danny Fernandes – recently joined forces to present the Breathe Again Tour in support of Danny’s third studio album, ‘Breathe Again’. They played an intimate show in Mississauga at the Living Arts Centre on November 14 and THE MAGAZINE was there to catch the 150-minute spectacle!
Toronto’s Hilary Weaver kicked off the show performing three tracks off her debut album, ‘Heart Breakout.’ She dressed the part of her pop/rock sound and impressed the crowd with her strong vocals. Her performance of the album’s catchy title track, “Heart Breakout,” had everyone singing along.
Canada’s newest favourite pop band, Eleven Past One, picked up right where Hilary left off and performed seven awesome songs! They played old favourites like “Tonight’s The Night,” new tracks like “This Is No Dream” (they performed this one acoustically sitting on the edge of the stage) and a special cover of “Wake Me Up” by Avicii. They closed their set with their mega-hit, “The World Is Ours.”
Platinum-selling superstar Danny Fernandes took to the stage to perform a variety of his popular hits and hidden gems. He opened with the first single off ‘Breathe Again’ titled “Fly Again (Broken Wings).” Then, over the course of the night, Danny took his fans on a journey through the past five years of his music career, with songs like “Automatic,” “Fantasy” and “Kryptonite” being crowd favourites. In fact, Danny came back on stage shortly after his last song to perform “Kryptonite” a second time after the crowd yelled out for “one more song”!
Both Danny and Eleven Past One took time on stage to shout out a charity that was close to their hearts – World Vision. They asked their fans to text the keyword “LOVE” to 41010 and donate $5 to help provide education to children in North Sudan and Indonesia. Both also gave fans a chance to get up close and personal with them in a VIP meet & greet after the show if they sponsored a child. In addition to meeting their favourite artist, sponsors received a Danny Fernandes poster, a copy of ‘Breathe Again’ or an Eleven Past One t-shirt, autographs and a special video message from Danny.
It was a great night and no one left without a skip in their step and a smile on their face! The Breathe Again Tour continues across Canada until November 23. Get tickets to a show near you now! For more information, visit http://www.dannyfernandes.com/.
