Victoria Duffield’s Big Ticket Summer Concert is almost here in Toronto, where fans will enjoy a mix of family‑friendly vibes and big pop energy on a sunlit summer evening. The weekend spotlight brings a lineup that includes R5, Zendaya and Eleven Past One, and Duffield is poised to take the outdoor stage in what promises to be a memorable culinary of sound and spectacle. Duffield has had a busy ride since her days on THE NEXT STAR, earning a Warner Records contract, releasing her debut album, popping up on television, and touring across Canada. This interview shares Duffield’s perspective on what to expect from the performance and how the weekend fits into her ongoing artistic journey.
What drew Duffield to join the Big Ticket Summer Concert lineup?
“Family Channel supported me from the very start,” Duffield says. “I loved the energy of the Stand Up! audience last October, and the idea of the Big Ticket Summer Concert really spoke to me. I’m thrilled to be performing this weekend.”
What can fans expect from your performance on Sunday?
Duffield promises a high‑energy, fun show with a polished team. “I’ll have my dancers with me, we’re going to take over the stage, entertain the crowd, and have a blast,” she shares. The moment will be built around dynamic routines, tight timing, and big musical moments designed to connect with every person in the stadium while keeping the mood light and festive.
How much practice and prep work goes into putting on a show like that?
Duffield emphasizes that practice is a constant. “Lots of practice,” she notes. “I train hard, rehearse with my dancers beforehand, and I also put in solo time to refine each move. I’m a perfectionist, so I’m always pushing to improve. A lot of work goes into shaping the show, but once I’m onstage, it’s totally worth it.”
Do you have any warm‑ups or anything special that you do before you go on stage?
She explains the routine: “I always warm up my voice and rehearse with my dancers beforehand. Before we step out, we have a quick group huddle, a short group prayer, and we share a hug. I also catch a quick moment with my mom right before taking the stage, then we go for it.”
What aspect of the concert are you most excited about?
“I can’t wait to see all my Toronto fans and everyone from the area who will be there,” Duffield says. “I’ve performed at the Molson Amphitheatre before, and outdoors the vibe is just different—cool and expansive yet intimate enough to feel a real connection. I’m thrilled to perform on a big stage in front of so many amazing fans, and I’m looking forward to meeting the other talented acts and cheering them on.”
Is it more challenging to perform on an outdoor stage than on an indoor one?
Duffield responds that it isn’t necessarily more challenging, but it is different. “Outdoor venues have a distinct vibe from dark indoor arenas. The atmosphere can feel more open, yet the connection with the audience can be more direct—eye to eye—so the experience is uniquely intimate even in a large stadium.”
Around this time last year, you had an album come out. Looking back, what’s been the biggest change in your career over the past year?
“Two tours shaped a lot for me,” Duffield reflects. “Moving from big stadium shows to more intimate venues across Canada broadened my connection with fans nationwide. My album also released in Japan, which opened up international audiences. Those experiences have given me confidence and momentum as I work toward my second album, which I’ve been crafting for many months now.”
What projects do you have coming up after the Big Ticket Summer Concert?
Duffield reveals plans for more performances and a new album in the works. “I’m doing lots of songwriting in London, L.A., Toronto and Vancouver,” she says. “I’m excited to share more music and aim to release my first single in the near future.”
Thanks, Victoria!
