If you missed last night’s 2012 Grammy Awards, fear not! We’ve compiled a list of the only moments worth YouTubing:
Yay! Moments:
1. Jennifer Hudson’s Whitney tribute
The sudden death of superstar Whitney Houston threw a curveball into the Grammys. And sure, Jennifer Hudson is no Whitney (no one is), but she gave “I Will Always Love You” the justice that it deserved.
2. Paul McCartney’s performance
The Beatles should be present at every Grammy Awards show in some way or another. As for this “Who is Paul McCartney” nonsense that’s trending on Twitter, this younger generation should be ashamed of itself.
3. Adele’s winning and owning
After having vocal chord surgery, Adele owned the stage with her performance of “Rolling in the Deep.” Plus, the songstress took home six well deserved awards, including Album, Song and Record of the Year.
4. Beach Boys and Tony Bennett’s performance
Once these “old guys” finished performing, they should have dropped the mic in the faces of the auto tuned garbage performances by Chris Brown and the rest of the young’ns.
Nay Moments:
1. Nicki Minaj’s “Roman” unveiling
Beyoncé has Sasha Fierce, Justin Bieber has Shawty Mane, Gaga has Joe Calderone and now Nicki has Roman. Are we the only ones sick of these musicians alter-egos? And what’s Roman’s deal? What does it do that’s different from Nicki?
2. No Gaga?
Barely any nominations, no wins and no performance by the biggest lady in pop right now at the biggest music award show. What’s wrong with this picture?
3. Taylor Swift’s not so “Mean” performance
Sure, when it comes to award shows, T-Swift hasn’t always had the best of luck. But since she cleaned up so much in the country department, this should have been her shining moment to relish in her fame. Instead, she gave a performance that was worthy of a “lets see what else is on.”
4. Chris Brown’s “Comeback”
Should have stayed at home, Brown.
