Hey, book fans! Do you love reading but don’t always have the patience or time to sit down and read a book? With our busy lives and schedules these days, it can be difficult to find the time for anything, much less an entire novel. Well, you’re in luck! A man named Bill Heid is now reproducing some of our favourite and most-loved books in audio theatre format, which is essentially like a book on tape but with actors and actresses, scores and soundtracks, and all of the trappings of a great film – except for the film! Instead, it’s up to your imagination to do the work while you sit back and listen to some of the greatest and most exciting stories ever told.
Heid began this undertaking a few years back when he decided that today’s media is too visually driven, and robs us of our ability to use our imagination for things like storytelling and book reading. He took his son and a few employees to London and hired some of the best actors they had to offer, as well as award-winning composer John Campbell (who did the original score for C.S. Lewis’ THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA)!
The group began with recreating a book by G.A. Henty, a big-time English novelist best known for his children’s historical adventure stories. His book UNDER DRAKE’S FLAG is jam-packed with just that: adventure and all of the hazards that come with it.
