Last week, Olly Murs kicked off a three-day promotional stay in Toronto with his first solo show in our city, turning up the heat at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on May 1. Not a minute went by without a wink or smile from Olly, which only made the sold out crowd of mostly teenage girls scream louder.
The show started with teenage boy band Before You Exit playing their hit songs including “End of the World,” “Soldier,” “I Like That” as well as a special Hanson cover.
After a break of what seemed like hours to the ear-piercing crowd, Olly took to the stage with his song, “Army of Two”, which he dedicated to his fans. The 15-song set went on to give fans the chance to hear their favourite songs, which included “Dance With Me Tonight,” “Personal,” “Heart Skips A Beat” and the current smash single, “Troublemaker.” As well, Olly surprised the crowd with an intimate X FACTOR audition by playing Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” the song which landed him a coveted spot on the hit U.K. show.
This show was only the beginning of Olly’s visit to Toronto. The next day, he treated fans to a free soccer match presented by andPOP and also paid a visit to MuchMusic’s NEW.MUSIC.LIVE. On Friday, he started with an early morning performance on CityTV’s BREAKFAST TELEVISION and ended with an exclusive and intimate interview with his fans for YTV’s One2One special.
You can pick up Olly’s new album, ‘Right Place, Right Time,’ in stores and on iTunes now! The North American leg of Olly’s current tour ends on May 15, 2013 in Anaheim, CA.
