This may be the end of an era for some and the end of a childhood for others, but whichever side you’re on, it’s sad news: the Spice Girls have decided to retire!
The infamous ’90s girl group was due to tour in 2014, but when Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham opted out, the remaining four members of the group had to rethink their options. With Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell’s lead, the remaining four girls had planned to tour as a foursome, but the more they talked about it, the more it seemed like a bad idea.
Without Victoria, there was a chance that the tour would not be as financially and professionally successful as they hoped. “Although they all desperately wanted to do it, they couldn’t take the risk of it being a flop – the Spice Girls could only ever go out on a high,” said a source close to the girls. Rather than face a massive loss on a farewell-type tour, the girls opted to retire from their beloved roles forever.
