Recently, a boy from Oregon kept telling his mother that he heard a “Rice Krispies” sound in his ear. Upon taking him to the doctor, mother and son learned that 9-year-old Jesse Courtney had a pair of spiders living in his ear canal. The snapping and popping sounds came from the spiders walked around his eardrum. The doctor flushed the spiders out with water. The boy’s mother thinks that the spiders invaded her son’s ear while they had been out working on the yard. “My first reaction was to go home and bomb the house”, she says. As for Jesse, he got a treat: “the doctor gave them to me to keep as a souvenir and I have taken them to school to show my friends.”
