Emma Watson has made a name for herself as a successful actress after the end of the HARRY POTTER series, but apparently, her fame almost wasn’t!

According to Emma, she had a professor at university who advised her to give up acting after the conclusion of the HARRY POTTER films! Luckily, Emma didn’t follow the advice and now enjoys a wildly successful career.

However, the thought of quitting acting did enter Emma’s mind, she revealed to ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY. “For a while I kind of bought into the hype of, ‘Will they ever be able to play anything else?’,” she stated. “It gave me a sense of paralysis and stage fright for a while. And then a professor told me that they didn’t think I should act, either. So I was really grappling with it and wasn’t feeling good about it.”

In the end, Emma got a little angry and eventually decided to show all those doubters that she could have a very successful post-POTTER career in Hollywood. “It got so bad and people had put me in a box so much that it started pissing me off. I suddenly wanted to prove them wrong. It gave me fuel, in a way.”

Her role in THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER sealed the deal for her after she had such a great time working on the movie and the movie’s rave reviews which proved that she was more than able to maintain a career after POTTER. “I just got the bug and got very driven all of a sudden, which I really wasn’t before,” Emma stated. “But I’m so happy. It’s all felt very new to me, really.”

We’re definitely glad Emma stuck with acting!
