Yesterday marked the end of the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Throughout the 10 days of the festival, there were various noteworthy appearances and films that just couldn’t be missed! Celebrities were all over the city of Toronto, attending red carpet premieres, going to exclusive parties and meeting their fans. If you weren’t following the festival this year, here’s a quick recap on some movies and celebrity appearances you might have missed.

10. Ernest & Celestine

Based on a French children’s book by Gabrielle Vincent, ERNEST & CELESTINE is about a lonely bear musician who befriends an orphaned mouse. However, in their town, mice and bears aren’t supposed to be friends. When Ernest and Celestine’s friendship develops, the town’s elders are displeased. Will their bond be strong enough to make everyone understand the importance of friendship?

9. Short Cuts Canada

Short Cuts Canada is a category for short films created by emerging Canadian film makers. This is a great opportunity for up-and-coming Canadian film makers to showcase their talents. There will always be extravagant Hollywood-produced movies, but it’s always nice to see talent from our own country.

8. Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart arrived on the red carpet for the premiere of her new film, ON THE ROAD, which also featuresSam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst. She wore a pretty floral dress and was greeted by thousands of screaming fans, reporters and photographers.

7. Igor & The Cranes’ Journey

IGOR & THE CRANES’ JOURNEY is about a father and a son who are brought together by an experience of a lifetime. When youngIgor and his father Peter witness the birth of a crane, Igor names him Karl and promises to protect him. One day, Karl disappears and Igor and his father work together to bring him back. Based on the novel by Aki Shavit, IGOR & THE CRANES’ JOURNEY is a truly beautiful film.

6. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence attended the red carpet gala of her new movie, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, which also stars Bradley Cooper. The HUNGER GAMES star introduced us to her new look with straightened her hair and a long, colourful gown. She was also reportedly seen hanging out with Emma Watson and Kristen Stewart at the Soho House Toronto.

5. Nono, The Zigzag Kid

Based on a novel byIsraeli author David Grossman, the plot revolves around a young boy named Nono. He is inspired by his father, who’s considered as the best police inspector in the whole world. He wants to be like him, but he constantly gets in trouble. Days before his Bar Mitzvah, Nono is sent to visit his uncle Sjmoel, who’s supposed to set Nono back on track. However, during the train ride to his uncle’s place, he meets a burglar named Felix Glick and together, they stop the train and enter a mysterious and abnormal world that changes their lives forever.

4. Zac Efron

The HIGHSCHOOL MUSICALprotagonist stars in two highly anticipated films: THE PAPERBOY, starringMatthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman and John Cusack, and AT ANY PRICE, starringDennis Quaid and Heather Graham. These Hollywood flicks are quite a change from dancing and singing in Disney movies!

3. Selena Gomez

Like Zac Efron, Selena Gomez attended TIFF 2012 for two movies, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA and SPRING BREAKERS. Surprisingly, she also brought Justin Bieber’s little brother and sister, Jaxon and Jazmyn, to the premiere. Selena was certainly one celebrity that drew an enthusiastic crowd everywhere she went.

2. Emma Watson

Emma was in Toronto to promote her new film, THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, along with Logan Lerman,Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, Nina Dobrev and Mae Whitman. In an interview with CTV, she said that her rolefelt pretty exoticbecause she’s finally getting out of the Hermione Granger mindset and entering the completely different role of an American teenager.

1. Hotel Transylvania

The characters that you would usually consider to be villains and monsters are now portrayed in a whole new light! HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA is a heart-warming story about Count Dracula’s attempt to protect his 118 year-old daughter Mavis from the real world dangers outside their humble abode. This is an adorable film starringAdam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Steve Buscemi, CeeLo Green and Andy Samberg. Don’t miss HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA when hits theatres on September 28, 2012!
