One person’s trash really is another person’s treasure, as a small impoverished town in Paraguay has learned.Cateura is making a name for itself in the music world by introducing an orchestra made with completely recycled instruments!
The people ofCateura earn money by sorting garbage that they then sell to recycling companies. It’s a very poor town and receives more than 1,500 tonnes of garbage every single day!
They began using some of the garbage scraps to create instruments for the local children so that the kids would have an encouraging and positive activity to occupy their time. They soon formed an orchestra and call themselves the Landfill Harmonic.
