Amy Winehouse’s legacy will soon be cemented in a documentary by award-winning British filmmaker, Asif Kapadia.
Amy’s family has turned down numerous proposals for a documentary about the late singer’s short life, but decided on Kapadia because they believe his film will “look at Amy’s story sensitively, honestly and without sensationalizing her.” The family has given Kapadia the go-ahead to make the film and it is expected to debut at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
Kapadia’s documentary will feature on Amy Winehouse’s rise to fame and career highlights. It will give viewers a look into her married life with Blake Fielder-Civil, who is blamed by the Winehouse family for Amy’s struggles with substance abuse. The movie will also feature previously unseen archive footage of the singer.
