Lucky contest winners Brady, Cameron, Ethan, Michael, Reese and Reilly recently went behind-the-scenes of Teletoon’s rockin’ show GROJBAND! They were shown the tricks of the trade as creators Todd Kauffman and Mark Thornton told them all about how the show was created.
Hosted at the cool downtown office of the Grojband website developer Secret Location, The Magazine’s contest winners and friends get a sneak peek at behind the scenes video of the making of Grojband with the show’s creators, Todd Kaufman and Mark Thornton, illustrator Paul Watling and Lyon Smith, the voice actor who play’s the show’s lead character Corey Riffen
They hung out with the creators of the show and website, along with the artists and Lyon Smith, who voices of the show’s main character Corey. The boys got an insider scoop and even got a chance to check out rough drafts of the show before it even hit TV.
Each boy went home from the event hosted at Grojband’s website developer Secret Location’s cool downtown offices with his own customized illustration done on actual Grojband storyboard pages and drawn onsite by illustrator Paul Watling
Fun facts from behind the scenes of GROJBAND:
- The show was almost called “ANGST”!
- Corey the lead character almost had brown hair instead of blue!
- The character Laney Penn was named after a song called “Penny Lane” by The Beatles.
- When Lyon Smith (Corey) was younger, he had blue hair just like Corey!
- Graeme Cornies, the voice of the cool Nick Mallory, wrote all the songs for The Wicked Cool Transition scenes!
The boys also got a chance to see how the GROJBAND website was made. The website lets you play games as the characters and even get your own shot at working on the show! If you play the games on the website, the points you earn allow you to collect materials to build your very own “Wicked Cool Transition” scene which may be picked to air on an actual episode of GROJBAND!
After learning about the ins and outs of the show (and eating some snacks) Brady, Cameron, Ethan, Michael, Reese, and Reilly headed home, all with some awesome prize packs and their own autographed copies of the storyboards!
