Hilary Duff is quite the quadruple-threat – she can sing, act, write books (TRUE, the third book in her ELIXIR series, came out in April) and give back. Already supporting initiatives like Johnson’s Baby CARES, Hilary, a new mom herself, was in Toronto last week to kickoff Duracell’s ‘Powering Holiday Smiles’ holiday campaign.
For the seventh year in a row, Duracell is proudly supporting Canadian youth by donating 20,000 batteries to hospitals across Canada. The batteries are used to power the toys in hospital playrooms and put a smile on the kids’ faces. Duracell joined forces with Hasbro at their launch event at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, where Hilary spent time with the young patients and gave them the latest and coolest toys on the market.
This year, Duracell is extending their campaign and asking for the support of Canadians. For every pack of Duracell Quantum AA-16 batteries purchased until December 27th, 2013, Duracell will donate $1 to Children’s Miracle Network (minimum of $25,000).
While in Toronto, Hilary participated in a live chat online to talk about this new initiative. When asked why she thinks it’s important to give back, Hilary said, “Being compassionate to families or children that are going through a hard time is really important and I feel lucky having a name that can help raise awareness.” As for her music, Hilary also revealed that we can expect a new single in the spring of 2014!
While you’re doing your holiday shopping this year, don’t forget to pick up a pack of Duracell batteries for your toys and to power the smiles of children in hospitals!
