The 55th annual Grammy Awards are fast approaching and the first group of performers has just been announced. Fun. and Mumford & Sons, two of the most nominated acts with six nominations each, are set to perform. Three time nominees Rihanna and Taylor Swift will perform as well. The Black Keys, who have five nominations, will also perform.
Best known for their song “We Are Young”, Fun. is the only act nominated in the so-called Big Four categories: Best New Artist as well as Record, Album, and Song of the Year. With their six nominations, they are tied with other big name artists such as Jay Z, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean. The Black Keys are nominated are nominated for Album and Record of the Year. Both Fun. and the Black Keys will be making their Grammy debut this year.
Mumford & Sons made their Grammy debut last year, joining members of the Avett Brothers on stage, who were part of the backing band for folk rock icon Bob Dylan. Their nominations include Album of the Year and Best Rock Performance.
Rihanna and Taylor Swift are no strangers to the Grammys. Both performed at the ceremony last year and have also been present in previous years. Rihanna is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Where Have You Been” and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for her song “Talk That Talk” featuring Jay Z. Taylor Swift’s hit “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is nominated in the Record of the Year category against Kelly Clarkson, Frank Ocean, Gotye, and fellow performers the Black Keys and Fun.
LL Cool J, who hosted the 2012 Grammy Awards, will be returning to host the show this year, airing on February 10!
