James McAvoy has been cast as the titular doctor in the upcoming adaptation of Mary Shelley’s horror classic, FRANKENSTEIN!
McAvoy will be starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe, who will be playing Igor, the doctor’s assistant. The movie claims to be based on the novel, but it should be noted that the novel does not feature the Igor character. Igor was made up by Hollywood and featured in the early FRANKENSTEIN movies starring Boris Karloff.
The screenplay for this new version is written by Max Landis, the son of legendary director John Landis and screenwriter of the cult hit movie, CHRONICLE, which starred Dane DeHaan.
Landis revealed that he wrote the movie in an attempt to bring together the public’s different views of the story of Frankenstein and his monster. He also admitted that the movie is going to be from Igor’s point of view, which has never been done before.
Though the role of the monster hasn’t yet been filled, rumour has it that STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS villain, Benedict Cumberbatch, is up for the role!
