Baz Luhrman’s highly anticipated adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s THE GREAT GATSBY has everyone excited, but it seems that a lot of the excitement is for the quirky and impressive soundtrack that will accompany the movie.
Now, a streaming sample of the soundtrack is available and it’s surprisingly good! Produced by Jay-Z, we initially wondered how Jay-Z and Baz Luhrman could successfully create a soundtrack embodying the iconic 1920s without using any music from the decade itself. However, now we know better than to doubt Baz Luhrman’s artistic mind!
The soundtrack features an array of artists from Beyonce and Fergie to Jack White and Lana Del Ray. With songs like a jazzy, swing version of Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love” and the soulful and spectacularly melancholy “Kill and Run” by Sia, this album is the perfect embodiment of the 1920s we’re bound to see in Luhrman’s GATSBY!
You can listen to a thirty minute sample from each song on the soundtrack in succession below, but unfortuinately we’ll have to wait a little longer before we can hear Beyonce’s cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black.”
